Should I or not..?
There he was standing in front of me in the line.. (for the movie "tsotsi")
50+ american with his wife!
He started talking, where I was from.. (although, he knows only Delhi and havent heard of Chennai or TamilNadu) I didnt bother to tell him about my actual hometown. Just told, its couple hundred miles west of Chennai.
Is it bigger than sandiego ? (He meant chennai!)
Oh yeah.. lot bigger!.. (me)
And the conversation goes for about 20 minutes.
I always wonder, should I introduce myself.. ? When do I do this.. ? What will he think, if I dont introduce myself. I hope, he isnt going to sit closer to me, once we are in the theatre. (But he did!)
Continued the conversation there.. How we got married (surprised about the arranged marriage concept.. asking lot of questions about that!)
Wondering should I introduce myself now ? Is it too late ? Ah.. he doesnt care.
He offers pop-corn (Free popcorn! but, no thanks) Continues the conv.. (Do I do it now ?)
Well, the movie started and it was over..
Him: Did you like the movie..?
Me: Yeah..
Ok.. see ya ! Handshake.. nice talking to you.. Oh you too!
Still confused.. Should I have introduced.. ? Ehh.. hes gone now! I have other stuffs to worry!
Well, He didnt introduce himself. Do I need to ?
Now I realise, I havent asked him any question at all! Just answering to his. Well, thats my personality.
Have you "Been there ? Done that ?!"

Yep Yep Yep!
Been there....done that. If I really like the person. I introduce myself with an "Oh BTw, we've been talking for so long without exchanging names! I am ------" and that starts the next thread about long last names, difficult to pronounce yada, yada yad!
It happens :-). Happened with me too ; which goes into a lot of questioning into "how to be a good conversationalist". :-)
Still, I think its ok to introduce our selves in the middle of conv when there is a decent pause, like when you know you kinda have some bond now ... or even after the conversation just b4 leaving, saying, "btw, my name is xyz and this is my wife xxx". The special mention of wife is important (I being a wife, having been there and left unintroduced.)
